The site and the brief
In October 2026 Climate Flow Limited carried out AC servicing and fridge fault diagnosis in Banbury for Mayfair Lounge, a commercial hospitality venue in Oxfordshire. The job had two parts. The first was servicing and chemically cleaning four air conditioning systems. The second was diagnosing a fault on an upright commercial display refrigerator. Climate Flow covers London, Oxfordshire and surrounding areas.

Scope of work
- Chemical cleaning of the outdoor condenser coils on the four air conditioning systems
- Cleaning of the four indoor units, including the filters and heat exchanger surfaces that could be reached
- Inspection of the outdoor units, the pipework that could be reached and the connections, and a check of their general condition
- Fault diagnosis on an upright commercial display refrigerator
Equipment serviced
Each of the four air conditioning systems has an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. They include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries FDC125VN outdoor units, which run on R410A refrigerant. An outdoor unit, also called a condensing unit, holds the compressor and the condenser coil that rejects the heat taken out of the room.
The display fridge is an upright commercial unit with a Danfoss refrigeration compressor.
Why the condenser coils and filters were cleaned
The Institute of Refrigeration's good practice guide on dirty condenser coils explains how dirty coils on air-cooled condensers, together with a lack of maintenance, can negatively affect the overall performance of a system.

Indoors, the concern is airflow. Daikin's maintenance guidance says dirty or blocked filters reduce airflow, which makes a system work harder and use more energy. The same guidance advises professional servicing at least once a year, including an inspection of the indoor and outdoor coils for dirt or damage.

Diagnosing the display fridge
A previous inspection had found no service valve on the fridge that could be reached, so its refrigerant pressures could not be measured. A service valve is a fitting on the refrigeration pipework where an engineer connects gauges to read the pressures inside the circuit.
To get a reading, the engineer fitted a tap-line service valve to the refrigeration pipework and connected a digital refrigeration gauge. The suction pressure, the pressure in the line returning to the compressor, was measured at approximately 7.5 psi.

The engineer also found the fridge's temperature control thermostat assembly faulty.

The cause of the fault is not yet confirmed. A refrigerant shortage, a leak and a restriction in the circuit (a blockage in the pipework) have not been confirmed or ruled out, and further investigation is needed to establish the cause.
Recommended next steps
Climate Flow recommended the following work to the customer. It is subject to the customer's approval and has not yet been carried out.
- Leak detection on the refrigeration circuit
- Leak repair, where it is technically and economically feasible
- A check of the circuit for restrictions
- Evacuation and recharge to the manufacturer's specification (removing the refrigerant and air from the circuit, then refilling it to the specified charge)
- Replacement of the temperature control thermostat assembly
- Final performance testing
Leak detection comes first. Whether this fridge has a leak is not yet known, but if one is found in F gas equipment, GOV.UK guidance on checking F gas equipment for leaks says it must be repaired as soon as possible and the equipment tested again within a month to check the repair worked. Under GB rules, people who service refrigeration and air conditioning systems containing F gas, check them for leaks or recover the gas must hold the required F gas qualifications. Climate Flow's engineers are F-Gas certified.
Where the job stands
All four outdoor and four indoor air conditioning units were serviced and chemically cleaned. The display fridge was diagnosed and the customer was told what was found. The fridge has not been repaired: further leak investigation and corrective repairs are needed before its refrigeration performance can be confirmed as satisfactory.
The air conditioning side of this job is our air conditioning servicing and repair work. The fridge diagnosis falls under commercial fridge and freezer repair. Upright and glass-door units are covered on the display chillers page. Equipment holding F gas above set thresholds, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent, must also be leak-checked at regular intervals. One of our maintenance contracts can put annual servicing and those checks on a schedule. More jobs like this one are on Our Projects.
This guide is general information, not a survey or a quote for your site; every system is different, so an engineer needs to see yours before any work is priced.
