Air Conditioning Installation in London

Air conditioning installation in London and surrounding areas

Climate Flow Limited provides air conditioning installation in homes and businesses across London and surrounding areas. We fit split and multi-split systems, ducted and cassette units, and VRF/VRV systems for larger buildings, and we service and repair them once they are running. This page explains each type of system, how they differ, and what the law asks of the people who own them.

Which air conditioning systems does Climate Flow install?

Each type of system has its own page with more detail on the work involved.

Split and multi-split systems

We install split and multi-split systems in homes and businesses, and service and repair them once they are running.

Ducted air conditioning

We install ducted air conditioning in homes and businesses, and service and repair it once it is running.

Cassette air conditioning

We install cassette air conditioning, and service and repair it once it is running.

VRF and VRV systems

VRF (variable refrigerant flow) is the general term and VRV is Daikin's name for it. Daikin describes VRV as keeping individual control of different zones, rooms and floors.

Commercial air conditioning

Commercial air conditioning covers systems for shops, restaurants, gyms, schools and offices; which type suits depends on the kind of site.

How do you choose between split, ducted, cassette and VRF?

An engineer recommends a type of system after seeing the site: the size of the space, how many rooms need their own control and where the indoor and outdoor units can go.

Servicing and repair

An installed system needs looking after. We carry out routine servicing, fault-finding and repairs on residential and commercial systems. We also offer 24/7 emergency callouts.

What does the law ask of an air conditioning owner?

Air conditioning that contains F gas refrigerant is covered by UK rules on who may work on it, how it is checked and what records are kept.

  • Who can do the work. A company that installs, repairs, services or decommissions stationary air conditioning containing F gas for someone else must be certified by an approved body, and anyone who handles F gas must hold personal qualifications. Climate Flow is F-Gas certified.
  • Leak checks. The user of stationary air-conditioning equipment is responsible for getting it checked for F gas leaks. Depending on the refrigerant charge, equipment holding 5 to 50 tonnes CO2 equivalent needs a check at least once every 12 months.
  • Records. For equipment covered by the leak-check rules, owners must keep records for 5 years of the gas in the system, any gas added during maintenance, and the dates and results of mandatory leak checks.
  • Energy assessor inspections. In England and Wales, systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW must be inspected by an energy assessor, at intervals of no more than five years (the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations). This inspection is separate from servicing.

Air conditioning for homes and businesses

A home installation is often a split or multi-split system for bedrooms or a main living space. For a business, health and safety law asks employers to keep workplace temperatures at a comfortable level. The law does not require air conditioning and sets no maximum workplace temperature, but for kitchens, shops, gyms and offices it is one way to keep a space comfortable through the summer.

Case study: two cassette systems for a restaurant on Orsman Road

For a restaurant on Orsman Road, London, we installed two Mitsubishi Heavy Industries cassette air conditioning systems. The Orsman Road cassette air conditioning case study sets out the scope of work and the equipment.

Which brands do we install and service?

We install and service Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Panasonic and Samsung air conditioning. We recommend a make and model once we have seen the building and the rooms to be cooled.

How a callout works

  1. Call or send a request

Tell us what the equipment is doing and where it is. For a breakdown, call so we can prioritise it.

  2. An engineer diagnoses the fault

We find the cause on site and talk you through the options.

  3. Repair, replace or install

We carry out the agreed work and test the system before we leave.

  4. Keep it running

Regular servicing helps prevent the next breakdown and keeps records up to date.

Common questions

Which type of air conditioning suits my building?
The right type of air conditioning depends on the building: the size of the space, how many rooms need their own control and where the indoor and outdoor units can go. Climate Flow installs split, multi-split, ducted, cassette and VRF or VRV systems, and an engineer recommends a type after seeing the site.
Who can legally install air conditioning in the UK?
In the UK, a company that installs, repairs or services stationary air conditioning containing F gas for someone else must be certified by an approved body, and anyone handling F gas must hold personal qualifications. Climate Flow is F-Gas certified and installs and services air conditioning across London and surrounding areas.
Does an air conditioning system need leak checks?
Air conditioning containing F gas is covered by UK leak-check rules, and the user of the equipment is responsible for arranging the checks. Depending on the refrigerant charge, equipment holding 5 to 50 tonnes CO2 equivalent must be checked at least once every 12 months, and, for equipment covered by the leak-check rules, owners must keep the records for 5 years.
Do larger air conditioning systems need an inspection?
In England and Wales, air conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW must be inspected by an energy assessor, with inspections no more than five years apart. This energy assessor inspection is a legal duty of the relevant person in relation to the air conditioning system and is separate from routine servicing and leak checks.
Which air conditioning brands does Climate Flow install?
Climate Flow installs and services air conditioning from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Panasonic and Samsung. The right make and model depends on the building, the rooms being cooled and where the indoor and outdoor units can go, which an engineer assesses on site before recommending a system.
